Couple photoshoot in the canal ring: staircases, street lamps and red doors
A couple photoshoot through the canal ring built around the details Amsterdam is known for: stone staircases at the front doors, old street lamps, stepped gables, red double doors and a carved stone portal. About an hour and a quarter, with a second look.
Session at a glance
- Session: Couple session
- Where: Amsterdam canal ring
- How long: About 75 minutes
- In this story: 18 photos and the route we walked
Where we walked
1. A bridge and tall gables
The first frames were on a canal bridge with tall gabled houses behind, close and then wide.
2. Staircases at the front door
Many canal houses have a stone staircase up to a raised front door. Holding hands on the steps, one a step higher than the other, is one of the simplest poses in the city.
3. Street lamps
Along the canal the old cast-iron lamps are spaced out like props. Leaning on one, then dancing around it, turns into natural movement within a minute.
4. Red double doors
A pair of red double doors with stone steps is a favourite stop on our routes; you can also see it in our surprise proposal session.
5. Gables across the water and a stone portal
After a change of look, a kiss with a row of gabled houses across the canal, and a few portraits in front of a carved stone doorway.
Why details matter in Amsterdam
The canal ring is full of small backdrops: a staircase, a lamp, a coloured door. Moving between them every few minutes keeps the gallery varied, even when the whole session stays within a few streets.
